“For me it's about texture, natural forms and found objects from all over the world: I cast from carvings and natural items like starfish, bones/vertebrae, seahorses, baby shark jaw, natural colored diamonds, precious stones like
sapphire, and metals.”
The jewelry showcases in the Gallery section flaunt the precision work and creative talents of Kristin and her students. The showcases are grouped by the materials used for the art -- precious metals and stones, found objects, leather, etc --
and the work is promoted and sold throughout the year at jewelry-focused parties, trunk shows with live music, and invitation-only showings.
The jewelry showcases are arranged throughout an open and comfortable environment with beautiful lighting and other art and objects that Kristin has collected in her travels. "Everything has a story in this section of the studio that has
helped influence my life and is designed to inspire and stimulate students' creativity," says Kristin. A cow skin from Argentina, shearling throws from Uruguay, art from South Africa, stones from India, a hammock from Columbia --
"it's all purposefully placed around the studio so students realize that real life should be the inspiration for their art, not what they see in a magazine.
