Studio Guidelines

Due to the popularity of our classes at Fine Jewelry School, studio space is often full. Fine Jewelry School requires students' cooperation in maintaining a smoothly operating workspace for everyone. To do this properly, students must abide by the following guidelines:

Attendance Policy
Fine Jewelry School carefully maintains attendance records. It is imperative that students complete their class work within the time specified in the course description.

Nonattendance Day
This is when the student communicates either by phone or email 24 hours in advance that he/she will not be attending a scheduled class. Nonattendance days must be made up within the same month of the missed day.

Nonattendance days are allocated as follows:

Find The Fundamentals (36 Hour Course) – 1 nonattendance day
Broaden Your Basics (120 Hour Course) – 2 nonattendance days
Discover Your Direction (240 Hour Course) – 3 nonattendance days
Develop Your Design (480 Hour Course) – 4 nonattendance days
Create Your Collection (1080 Hour Course) – 5 nonattendance days
Build Your Brand (2400 Hour Course) – 10 nonattendance days

Students are responsible for rescheduling their nonattendance days in a timely manner. If additional time off is required, it must be pre-approved by a Fine Jewelry School administrator. Failure to comply may result in dismissal.

Absences & Tardiness
Absences and tardiness will NOT be tolerated in either the short or long programs. Absences are considered a day when a student misses a day of class and does not notify the school within 24 hours in advance.

Tardiness is arriving more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled class.

Excessive tardiness and absences may result in dismissal from Fine Jewelry School.

Termination
Misconduct, unsatisfactory work progress, or poor attendance are all grounds for termination from Fine Jewelry School. Misconduct is considered any behavior that interferes with the learning process in the class. Conduct considered unacceptable: using or possessing intoxicants or illegal drugs on school premises; possessing weapons; theft; disruptive behavior or refusal to follow instructors' or administrative directions. You may also be expelled from the school if you fail to understand and comply with all studio guidelines.

Enrollment Dates

Short Courses
Please note that our short courses have a rolling admission and flexible hours, however they must be completed within the duration of time listed below.

Find The Fundamentals (36 Hour Course)
     Must be completed within 60 days of start date.

Broaden Your Basics (120 Hour Course)
     Must be completed within 90 days of start date.

Discover Your Direction (240 Hour Course)
     Must be completed within 180 days of start date.

Short-term intensives are also available. Please contact Fine Jewelry School to learn more.

Intensives
Intensives are created for full-time students who have decided to devote all their time and energy to their craft. Students enrolled in this curriculum are required to adhere to strict attendance policies and project guidelines. A student's growth as a jeweler will be monitored in these programs and work will be graded. Students in any intensive course are required to be in school Tuesday through Friday 10-6. Full time 480 program for international students take place Tuesday through Saturday 10-6 for 3 months. Special requests are available and must be discussed and agreed in writing.

General Rules

  1. All students are required to sign a contract, indemnity form and confidentiality form before beginning any class.

  2. Mark your own tools to avoid loss and confusion.

  3. Return school tools to proper place when you have finished using them. All books, tools, materials, school property must remain in the school at all times. Any misplaced, broken, damaged property of the studio, are of full responsibility of the student for replacement or payment of the item or tool.

  4. Students are required to maintain their own tool boxes and replenish used materials.

  5. Always tie hair back while working and goggles must always be worn at all times.

  6. Students must keep work area clean and organized.

  7. Any misconducted or disturbance to the class may result in dismissal from the course.

  8. All designs are to be checked and reviewed by the school director.

  9. Students are required to follow the curriculum and no production work is ever to be done in the studio.

  10. All tool guidelines and studio regulations must be followed and will be distributed in print on the first day of class.
